WoW Forever Day in Review — September 22, 2026
Too much WoW Forever news, not enough hours in the day? We’ve gathered some of the biggest videos and discussions happening around the Forever community and pulled the major topics together in one place.
A note on sources: Aggro After Bedtime did not create the reporting, interviews, gameplay footage, discoveries, or opinions referenced below. This is a community roundup built around the work of Blizzard and independent creators. Every video discussed in this article includes a direct link to the original source so you can watch it for yourself and support the creator.
The Big Picture: Forever Is Starting to Feel Like Its Own WoW
Probably the biggest theme running through the recent coverage is that World of Warcraft: Forever is becoming much easier to define.
This isn't simply Vanilla with a few extra quests bolted onto it.
Blizzard is building Forever around the idea of an evergreen Azeroth that remains centered around level 60 while the world continues growing through new zones, dungeons, raids, systems, stories, and other forms of horizontal progression.
That concept has become a major part of Xaryu's recent coverage, especially in WoW Forever Is Officially Its Own Timeline.

He went even deeper into the direction of the game while reacting to a developer interview covering fresh starts, horizontal progression, new zones, monetization, lore, and the overall scope of Forever.

That's one of the most interesting possibilities behind this entire project.
Blizzard doesn't necessarily have to follow every story beat, zone progression, or design decision World of Warcraft originally made after Vanilla.
Forever gives the developers room to ask a different question:
What would Azeroth have looked like if the original world had simply kept growing?
That's a pretty big sandbox.
Blizzard Wants Classic Combat — Without Making Classic Untouchable
One of the biggest questions surrounding Forever has been:
How far can Blizzard change Classic before it stops feeling like Classic?
The presentations at BlizzCon gave us a much better idea of where Blizzard is trying to draw that line.
Forever is getting new talents, abilities, zones, dungeons, systems, itemization changes, and other additions, while Blizzard continues to emphasize the importance of the original game's pacing, danger, class identity, exploration, and social structure.
The official Forever Deep Dive is probably one of the best places to hear Blizzard explain those systems directly.

The larger vision is laid out in Blizzard's What's Next Panel, including the idea of an evergreen Azeroth, new regions, dungeons, raids, and continued development after launch.

The important distinction seems to be this:
Forever isn't trying to preserve Vanilla as a museum piece.
It's trying to preserve the way that version of World of Warcraft feels to play while giving players new things to discover.
We're probably going to be debating exactly where that line belongs for a very long time.
Every Class Is Getting New Toys
Class changes are quickly becoming one of the biggest subjects surrounding Forever.
The Comeback Kids put together a full breakdown covering major new abilities and talent changes across all nine classes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_l4fn8roM8
This is where Forever gets especially interesting for people who already know Classic inside and out.
We're familiar with the classes.
We're familiar with the world.
But now we're being given different pieces and asked to figure everything out again.
That's exactly the kind of thing that can make a familiar game feel new without completely replacing what made it familiar in the first place.
And once thousands of players start tearing these talent trees apart?
Someone is absolutely going to discover something Blizzard never expected.
Because this is World of Warcraft.
Players Are Finally Testing the Theory
There's a huge difference between talking about Forever during a presentation and actually sitting down and playing it.
We're now at the point where creators have spent meaningful time inside the game rather than simply reacting to announcements.
The Comeback Kids discussed their hands-on experience after spending a weekend playing Forever.

Xaryu's first hands-on experience also became one of the biggest early Forever videos.

And this is where Forever coverage becomes considerably more valuable.
We're leaving the stage where everybody analyzes Blizzard slides and entering the stage where players can actually ask:
“Okay, but does this work when we're actually playing it?”
Those are two very different questions.
Dungeons Are Becoming a Big Part of the Conversation
Dungeon footage has been particularly interesting.
Esfand gave the community a substantial look at actual Forever dungeon gameplay, including new encounters and some of the surrounding beta experience.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuVP_olx4I8
This may eventually become one of Forever's greatest strengths.
Classic leveling works because the world matters.
Instead of constantly sending everyone toward a completely separate continent and leaving previous parts of Azeroth behind, Forever has the opportunity to keep adding reasons to travel through the same interconnected world.
A new dungeon opens somewhere you've traveled past dozens of times?
Suddenly that road matters again.
That flight path matters again.
That town nearby matters again.
That's exactly the kind of thing an evergreen Azeroth needs.
Blizzard Is Already Adjusting Things
Another important thing to watch is how Blizzard responds to testing and community feedback.
The Comeback Kids covered several of the early conversations involving tier sets, dungeon experience, boosting, professions, datamining, quality-of-life features, and other beta topics.

This is where beta participation actually matters.
Numbers will change.
Talents will change.
Dungeon rewards will change.
Abilities that look completely broken today could look completely different by launch.
So around Aggro After Bedtime, we're going to try not to treat every beta number as gospel.
Sometimes the more interesting question isn't whether an ability currently does 12% or 15% more damage.
It's understanding what Blizzard is trying to make that ability do.
What Works — And What Might Not
Xaryu also put together one of the more extensive discussions about the things he likes, dislikes, and remains unsure about after seeing more of Forever.
Source: Xaryu — What I LIKE and Don't Like About WoW Forever — 52:16
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WjEro58IEo
The discussion touches on everything from monetization and the Skyborne to dungeon experience, graphics, UI choices, transmog, progression systems, PvP, class power, and the overall Classic feel.
You don't have to agree with every creator's opinion for videos like these to be valuable.
In fact, the disagreements might be the most interesting part.
WoW Forever is forcing the community to answer a question it hasn't really had to answer before:
What parts of Classic actually make Classic special?
Everybody seems to have a slightly different answer.
And figuring that out may end up being one of the most interesting parts of Forever's development.
Want the Whole Story in One Video?
If you're trying to explain Forever to somebody who hasn't been obsessively following every announcement, MadSeasonShow put together a large overview covering the major information that had been revealed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WmMekGys9U
It's a useful companion to Blizzard's official material because it pulls a large amount of the available information together rather than requiring someone to sit through multiple presentations.
If you've got a friend who keeps asking, “Okay, what actually is WoW Forever?” this is a pretty good place to start.
Don't Forget About the World Itself
Forever isn't only changing systems.
Blizzard also devoted an entire presentation to how the team is approaching Azeroth itself.
The goal is to update and expand the world while maintaining enough of its identity that it still feels like the place players remember.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsg2HmvLT-A
For a game whose entire identity revolves around continuing to live in Azeroth, that's probably more important than it initially sounds.
The world has to remain familiar enough to feel like home while still giving us reasons to stop and look around again.
That's a difficult balance.
It's also one of the biggest reasons Forever is so interesting.
The Aggro After Bedtime Take
The most interesting thing happening right now isn't one talent, one dungeon, or one graphics update.
It's that we're finally beginning to understand what World of Warcraft: Forever actually is.
Not long ago, most of the conversation was speculation.
Now people are playing it.
We're seeing Blizzard's philosophy collide with actual players, actual classes, actual dungeons, actual balance problems, and — inevitably — actual bugs.
There are going to be changes we love.
There are going to be changes somebody in Discord complains about for three consecutive hours.
There will almost certainly be something incredibly overpowered that survives longer than it probably should.
That's part of the fun.
For Aggro After Bedtime, we're much more interested in whether Forever succeeds at creating a version of Azeroth that makes us want to log in together for years than whether every system is perfect during beta.
So far?
There's a lot to talk about.
And thankfully, we've still got some time before bedtime.
